invitation wording
Here is the basic breakdown of a wedding invitation. Further explanations are listed below.
1. HOST LINE
Whomever is hosting the wedding should be listed here. This can be the bride's family, the groom's, both or neither. SEE EXAMPLES
2. REQUEST LINE
There are several different ways to word the request line. SEE EXAMPLES
3. BRIDE OR ALPHABETICALLY FOR SAME SEX COUPLES
The bride is listed first on the formal invitation. If her parent's are mentioned, then only the first and middle names are required.
Same sex couples should be listed alphabetically.
4. GROOM
If Groom's parent's are mentioned, then only the first and middle names are required.
5. GROOM'S FAMILY
If not hosting, but you want to mention them on the invitation, this is the best place to include them.
6. DATE & TIME
Traditional wedding invitations will spell out the day, date and time of the ceremony. It's acceptable to use numbers or shorthand if wanting a more modern look. ADDITIONAL TIPS
7. LOCATION
List the name and address of the venue where your ceremony is taking place. Zip codes are not needed. If your reception is at a different location, that information is better placed on an insert card. ADDITIONAL TIPS
8. RECEPTION
If your ceremony and reception are at the same location, a separate card is not needed. Simply state "reception to follow" or another similar version.
